PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical projection method which can prevent a color excluding a white color from being dulled and the projector. SOLUTION: A projector which includes a color wheel having three color filters and a white color filter and projects a plurality of color lights generated by getting a white color light from a light source through the rotating color wheel synchronously superimposes a pulse current on a current supplied to the light source at the time when the white color light from a light source passes a boundary between the white color filter and a filter, and projects a light that has passed the boundary between filters. Because a white color light increases, brightness of an image projected by a projector is improved. Because an amount of light in which a red color, a green color, a blue color and a white color are mixed is increased as the white color light from a light source passes a boundary between filters, it is prevented that a color excluding a white color included in an image is dulled caused by a light amount difference between a white color and another color.
