PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the shift shock due to variations of torque by accurately calculating target torque output from a power source required in shifting in a vehicle with a stepped automatic transmission mounted thereon. SOLUTION: An ECT_ECU carries out a program including a step of determining whether the transmission is in a steady state not to be in shifting, or in shifting (S100); a step of setting a current gear stage to a virtual gear stage if the transmission is in the steady state (S200); a step of setting a pre-shifting gear stage to the virtual gear stage (S400) if the transmission is in shifting and before starting an inertia phase (YES, in step S300); a step of setting a post-shifting gear stage to the virtual gear stage (S500) if the transmission is in shifting and after starting the inertia phase (NO, in S300); a step of calculating the degree of gear shift progressα(S900); a step of calculating a virtual gear ratio on the basis of the virtual gear stage and the degree of the gear shift progressα(S1000); and a step (S1100) of calculating target engine torque by using the virtual gear ratio.
