PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field communication system whereby a user's load can be relieved and user interfacing can be much more enhanced in the case of transmission/reception of a large amount of information. SOLUTION: The electric field communication system wherein communication is made via electric field transmission media includes: a first transceiver 3 for inducing an electric field on the basis of information to be transmitted in an electric field transmission medium and detecting the induced electric field to execute information transmission reception; a computer 2 connected to the first transceiver 3; a sensor 1 for sensing a contact by a user and transmitting a sensed signal to the computer; and a mobile terminal 4 carried by the user, and when receiving the sensed signal, the computer 2 makes communication with the mobile terminal 4 via the first transceiver 3 and electric field transmission medium.
