<p>Provided is an ink jet printer head drive device no requiring a transistor cooling heat radiation plate and capable of preventing distortion of a drive signal. A modulation circuit (24) modulates an analog drive waveform signal (WCOM) for controlling actuator drive outputted from a drive waveform signal generation circuit (70) so as to obtain a modulated signal. The modulated signal is power-amplified by a power amplifier (25). The power-amplified modulated signal is smoothed by a smoothing filter (26) to obtain a drive signal (COM) to the actuator. Since a MOSFET in the digital power amplifier (25) is used as a switching element, the power loss is small and no cooling heat radiation plate is required. Moreover, by arranging an inverse filter (23) having filter characteristic configured by electrostatic capacity of the smoothing filter (26) and an actuator (22) as predetermined frequency characteristic, it is possible to prevent distortion of the drive signal (COM) applied to the actuator (22).</p>
