<p>A multiple discharge lamp lighting device for stabilizing and equalizing the tube currents of a plurality of discharge lamps without providing a ballast element on the secondary side of an inverter transformer. The discharge lamp lighting device (10) comprises an inverter means (12), and a plurality of inverter transformers TR 1 -TR n having secondary windings NS1-Nsn connected with discharge lamps Lal-Lan, respectively. The plurality of inverter transformers TR 1 -TR n have primary windings Np1-Npn respectively connected in series with ballast impedance elements LB1-LBn before being connected with a switching means (13), and a current balance means BC 1 is provided between the primary wirings of adjacent inverter transformers TR i and TR i+1 . With such an arrangement, respective tube currents can be stabilized and equalized without using a high withstand voltage element.</p> |
