Cans (3.1,3.2) fit in a can creel (CC) (1) in first (2.1) and second (2.2) can rows (CR) arranged in parallel alongside each other. Cans in the CR have an identical structure and size and can be formed by rectangular cans. The CC is assigned a cable-guiding device (20), which fits above the cans and between the CR and serves to guide a spinning cable as the cans are pulled off and emptied. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the method of the present invention.
