PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce pressure loss of oil guided to a hydraulic drive device from an oil pump used for both lubrication and hydraulic drive. SOLUTION: The engine is provided with an oil pump 70 driven in the interlocking relationship with rotation of a crankshaft 32, an oil passage 80 through which oil fed out of the oil pump 70 flows, an oil cooler 146 interposed in the oil passage 80 and making passing oil generate pressure loss larger than the oil passage 80, and a hydraulic drive device oil passage 148 branched from an oil passage 83 extending to the oil cooler 146 from the oil pump 70 and guiding the oil to a variable valve timing mechanism 60.
