PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat display device in which a short-circuit failure occurring between a gate line and a data line or between electrodes of a thin film transistor can be easily repaired, and to provide a method for manufacturing the device. SOLUTION: The flat display device includes gate lines and data lines crossing each other to define pixel regions, a pixel electrode formed in the pixel region, and a thin film transistor having a gate electrode connected to the gate line, a source electrode connected to the data line, a drain electrode connected to the pixel electrode and a semiconductor channel portion, wherein the gate line is divided into at least two portions from a part corresponding to the crossing with the data line.
