PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately weld a membrane sheet with a support plate with laser irradiation, even if the membrane sheet contains an inorganic material. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of flat membrane element, the membrane sheet 10 for solid-liquid separation is overlapped with the support plate 20 supporting the membrane sheet 10, and the joint part of both materials is irradiated with laser beam 24 to weld the membrane sheet 10 with the support plate 20. When the membrane sheet 10 contains an inorganic material, the support plate 20 is composed of a laser transmission material, and the joint part is irradiated with the laser beam 24 from the support plate 20 side.
