The device (22) has inlet channels (26) and outlet channels (28) limited by channel walls and spaced at a distance, where the channel walls limiting the inlet channels are provided with a coating of a fiber-containing material. The size of a cross-section area limited in the inlet channels of the coating is equal to the size of a cross-section area limited by the channel walls of the outlet channels. The cross-section areas are geometrically identical, where one of the cross-section areas is in the form of a square or circular. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a filter device.
