PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end-face protective layer for a glass plate, which is useful for suppressing the generation of rust in metal wire caused by the invasion of moisture, cracking of the glass plate due to the generation of rust in the metal wire, and the generation of white turbidity in a laminated film layer, in a glass plate reinforced with a wire net or metal wires, a laminated glass plate or the like, and which is inconspicuous even if it is provided. SOLUTION: The end-face protective layer for the glass plate uses a sealing material and covers the end face of the glass plate. The end-face protection layer is formed by parallelly arranging a protective plate with an interval from the end face of a glass plate and filling the sealing material in a formed gap. The protective plate is made of a transparent resin, and the sealing material is made of a transparent silicone sealant.
