An imaging system for processing a signal from a CCD (102) is provided with a noise reducing section (111) for performing noise reduction processing to the signal from the CCD (102); an edge direction detecting section (113) for detecting an edge direction from the signal to which the noise reduction processing is performed; and an edge extracting section (114) for extracting an edge component from the signal from the CCD (102) based on the edge direction.
