<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat panel display having high reliability and fast driving speed. <P>SOLUTION: The flat panel display includes a vacuum envelope equipped with a front glass having transparency at least partly and a substrate placed opposite to the front glass, a cathode formed on the substrate, a gate electrode substrate having an electron passing hole placed opposite to the substrate separated from the cathode in the vacuum envelope, and a phosphor film laminated on an opposing surface to the substrate of the front glass.
