A valve buffering device for a reciprocating compressor is provided to prevent deviation of a buffering spring of from a suction hole in the case of opening or closing of a suction valve, thereby preventing valve noise and valve damage caused by collision between the suction valve and a piston. A valve buffering device for a reciprocating compressor comprises a piston(42) for reciprocating in a compression space of a cylinder to inhale and compress refrigerant via a suction path(51). A suction valve(43) is fixed at a front end of the piston at an end and opening or closing the suction path at the other end for controlling suction of refrigerant with respect to the compression space. A plurality of buffering springs(57) are inserted into the front end of the piston for elastically supporting the suction valve when the suction valve is closed. A deviation preventing element(58) connects and fixes the buffering spring to each other for preventing deviation thereof.
