The proposed method for monitoring fluctuations of load on the drive mechanism of a rolling mill consists in measuring the output signal of the current transducer of the driving motor within the period of the increase of the load on the working rolls of the mil, measuring the output signal of the low-pass filter, which is connected to the current transducer, with a cutoff frequency less than one-half of the natural vibration frequency of the drive mechanism, determining the difference between the output signal of the transducer and the output signal of the low-pass filter, and determining the fluctuations of the load torque by the amplitude of the said signal difference. The proposed method is distinctive by its enhanced accuracy.
