PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock for double doors, in which an engaging shoe, rotatably mounted at the leading end of a dead rod, is backed up by a leading end of a backup rod, and which makes the engaging shoe free by slightly shifting the backup rod in the opening of the master door. SOLUTION: The slave door is placed in a closed position, and the master door is closed, so that the dead rod 6 can be charged into the strike hole of a floor surface and/or a head via a follower 3 and a swing lever 18 by the movement of its strike. In this case, a reversing latch 32 is pushed into a latch case 38 by engaging the strike hole of a strike plate, which is mounted at the free side edge of the master door, with the reversing latch 32; an operating lever 37 is counterclockwise turned by the above motion; and the backup rod 17 is pushed up by an operating pin 41 at its leading end.
