Provided is a method for operating display of a plurality of display objects which are ordered and overlapped at least partially on a display device in a data processing system connected to the display device. The method includes: a step of recording current display orders of the display objects while correlating them with corresponding object identifiers, a step of modifying the display order of a first object in response to a first user action selecting the first object, a step of recording the display order of the first object before the display order is modified as the display order before the modification in an object identifier table, and a step of modifying the first object display order by using the first object display order before the modification in response to a second user action to return the display order of the first object whose display order has been modified.
