PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press molding device and a press molding method capable of suppressing the camber of a molded article at a cooling process without damaging productivity and to provide a method for manufacturing a glass substrate. SOLUTION: The press molding device 21 is provided with a pair of molds consisting of an upper mold 22 and a lower mold 27, a die plate 23 for holding the upper mold 22 and pressurizing axes 26 and 31 for pressurizing the pair of molds 22 and 27 or the like, and the upper mold 22 is mounted so as to relatively move in a certain distance in the vertical direction to the die plate 23. Molding pressure can be released while holding a molding material (glass material) M in a state of being held with the pair of molds 22 and 27 after molding by this constitution. As a result, the generation of the warp is reduced since a cooling speed of the front and rear sides of the molding material M can be uniformalized and also a rapid cooling process of the molding material M can be conducted without generating the cracking of the molding material M or the like.
