<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transportation device capable of transporting a sheet in the opposite direction of the transportation direction of a driven roller. <P>SOLUTION: This sheet transportation device includes a transportation roller driven during operation. The sheet transportation device includes a guiding element and an actuation means, and is constituted so that the guiding element and the actuation means are switchably used to affect influence on the interspacing between the transportation roller and the guiding element to guide a sheet by contacting with the driven roller by the guiding element, and includes a roller coaxially and freely rotatably arranged to the transportation roller. The roller extends beyond a circumferential edge of the driven roller in the radial direction, and is arranged in the vicinity of the driven roller.
