PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement vane pump in which a pump discharge amount is prevented from lowering by increasing a supporting force for a cam ring on the second hydraulic pressure chamber side to suppress unexpected fall down of the cam ring. SOLUTION: This variable displacement vane pump comprises the cam ring 7 contained in the pump body 1 swingably around a fulcrum surface 12 and forming, on the inner peripheral side, a plurality of pump chambers 16 together with a rotor 9 and vanes 14, a suction port 17 and a discharge port 19 formed at the axial one side of the cam ring, and a first hydraulic pressure chamber 10 and the second hydraulic pressure chamber 11 formed by separating the space on both outer peripheral sides of the cam ring. An urging mechanism 31 is provided at the side of the second hydraulic pressure chamber side of a front body, urging the cam ring from the second hydraulic pressure chamber side to the first hydraulic pressure chamber side through a plunger 34 by the pump discharge pressure introduced into a pressure receiving chamber 41 and the spring force of a coiled spring 35 on the side of a front body 2 on the second hydraulic pressure chamber side.
