PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure enough transmission torque between an exchange cutting tool and a shank in a cutting tool exchange type rotary tool in which an exchange cutting tool is automatically centered to the shank. SOLUTION: A fitting shaft part 54 provided on a fitting screw 16 is fitted to both a fitting hole 36 provided in the exchange cutting tool 14 and a fitting hole 42 provided in the shank 12 by clearance fit, whereby the exchange cutting tool 14 and the shank 12 are concentrically positioned through the fitting shaft part 54 to automatically perform centering. Since centering is thus performed by the fitting shaft part 54 provided on the fitting screw 16, it will be sufficient that a whirl-stop engagement part 22 exclusively performs whirl-stop for the change cutting tool 14 and the shank 12, and the engagement mode are freely set so that large transmission torque is obtained.
