PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety gear excellently developable in the whole excess speed states for stopping an elevator cage without injuring passengers moving in the elevator cage. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a brake shoe used for an elevator safety gear. In use, the safety gear exerts a specific application force N to the brake shoe, and causes the brake shoe to frictionally engage with a guide rail 3.
