A method for controlling a dehydration process in a dehydrator and a dehydrator controlled by the same are provided to minimize the influence caused by a resonance by detecting the resonance even in a preliminary dehydration process. A dehydrator includes a dehydration tub, a drive unit, a resonance detection unit, and a controller. The drive unit rotates the dehydration tub. The resonance detection unit detects a resonance during the rotation of the dehydration tub. The controller performs a dehydration process by controlling the drive unit according to a dehydration control method. The dehydration control method includes a preliminary dehydration step(S104); a main dehydration step(S111); and a resonance detection step for detecting the resonance in acceleration range.
