A swash plate type compressor is provided to form a refrigerant suction path at a part of one of front and rear cylinders facing and contacting each other, thereby freely changing the size of a refrigerant path and simplifying machining thereof. A swash plate type compressor comprises front and rear housings having refrigerant suction/discharge elements, and front and rear cylinders(400,500) mounted between the housings in parallel. The refrigerant suction element has a muffler(550) protruded from a partial section of an outer surface of one of the front and rear cylinders to have a space part(551) of a predetermined size, a refrigerant suction hole(552) formed outside the muffler and connected to the space part in the muffler, and a refrigerant suction path(553) formed at a bottom surface of the space part of the muffler to be opened at a side for connecting the space part to internal space(S) of the one cylinder.
