A field sequential color LCD device and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce brightness deviation and power consumption by individually adjusting respective fields. A field sequential color LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a liquid crystal panel, a driver, and a backlight unit. The liquid crystal panel includes plural pixels, which are switched by TFTs(Thin Film Transistor) formed on the cross sections of gate and data lines. The driver sequentially supplies scan pulse to the gate lines, supplies data voltage to the data lines, and drives the pixels. The backlight unit sequentially radiates red, green, and blue light to the respective pixels according to control of the driver. A frame includes red, green, and blue sub frames. Each of the sub frames includes a data write period(AP), a liquid crystal response period(WP), and a backlight driving period(FP).
