A program download method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to enable a user to selectively install essential programs only, thus a waste of a memory is prevented while the user can operate the terminal more conveniently. A program service server(500) receives previously installed program information and a predetermined apparatus ID number from a mobile communication terminal(200)(S10-S22). The server(500) extracts a non-installed program list by the program information to send the extracted list to the terminal(200)(S30,S23). The terminal(200) selects a desired program of the program list, and delivers the selected program to the server(500)(S11-S24). The server(500) encodes the selected program file by the apparatus ID number, and delivers the encoded file to the terminal(200)(S25-S26). The terminal(200) restores the encoded program file by the apparatus ID number, and installs the restored file(S13,S14).
