A method for displaying a short message in a mobile terminal is provided to enable a user, who has poor sight, to conveniently read the letters of a received short message by enlarging the size of the short message. A control part in a mobile terminal judges whether key input is generated(S11). If a key is inputted, the control part determines whether a short message is displayed(S13). If a short message is displayed, the control part confirms whether the inputted key is a short message size modification button(S15). If so, the control part judges whether the short message size modification button is for an overall screen display command, an enlargement command or a reduction command(S17). If the short message size modification button is for the overall screen display command, the control part displays the displayed short message on the whole screen(S19). If the short message size modification button is for the enlargement command, the control part enlarges and displays the short message(S21). If the short message size modification button is for the reduction command, the control part reduces and displays the short message(S23).
