A mobile terminal and a method for displaying image data are provided to solve a problem that a load is added in a state in which a load is strongly burdened on a processor when several pictures are decoded and displayed in order to form a vivid screen image for being operated by several tasks simultaneously. A memory(110) stores image data of notifying call termination and call origination set corresponding to the reception and transmission of a communication signal. A displayer(130) displays the image data stored in the memory. An image data display controller(140) performs a control operation such that the displayer differently displays the image data according to the lapse of time. The image data display controller includes a predetermined timer and receives a specific signal output when predetermined time lapses.
