A mobile communication terminal and a character input method thereof are provided to allow characters to be recognized according to arrangement order of the corresponding more than one character allocated to key buttons, so that the allocated characters can be outputted through minimum button operation irrespective of the number of the allocated characters. A keypad(20) is equipped with key buttons. A controller(10) recognizes a character corresponding to order of the first operated key button signal among plural characters allocated to a key button next operated according to the first operated key button signal. The controller(10) comprises as follows. A decider(11) senses the operated key button signal. A data processor(12) recognizes a number of the first operated key button signal, and recognizes character arrangement order corresponding to the next operated key button.
