A fuel cell generating system is provided to inhibit the deterioration of a fuel cell main body and improve the durability of the fuel cell main body at the same time without enlarging the fuel cell generating system. The fuel cell generating system comprises a fuel cell main body. The fuel cell main body has an electrolyte(4), a pair of electrodes consisting of an anode(3) and a cathode(2) between which the electrolyte(4) is interposed, and a pair of separators(5,6) having gas channels(5a,6a) which supply a hydrogen-containing fuel gas to the anode(3) and supply an oxygen-containing oxidant gas to the cathode(2) at the same time. The fuel cell generating system further includes a gas supply unit which supplies a non-reactive gas besides the oxidant gas and fuel gas of gases to be supplied to the fuel cell generating system, to the gas channels(6a) at the anode side. When the fuel cell generating system is started, a certain amount of the non-reactive gas is supplied to the gas channels(6a) at the anode side by the gas supply system, and the fuel gas follows the non-reactive gas. |
