The diagnosis process for a two-converter system with two exhaust flows (18, 20) passing through it involves comparing the oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of the first catalytic converter (14) with at least one first threshold value. A further threshold value depending on the result of the comparison is then reported, and the OSC of the second catalytic converter (16) is compared with this threshold value.
