PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which restrains bodying ink from being accumulated in a nip part of a coating roller and a porous body, and the porous body. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises: a recording part which performs recording by ejecting ink to a recording medium; and a coating processing part which has a means for storing a liquid different from ink, and which coats the recording medium with a liquid different from the ink. The image forming apparatus is provided with a means for rapidly recovering the liquid different from the ink, which is not applied by the coating processing part, into a means for storing a coating agent.
