METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INTRA PREDICTION CODING AND DECODING OF IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for intra prediction coding and decoding of an image which perform intra prediction according to a selected intra prediction mode based on the directionality of an input image.

SOLUTION: After an input block is frequency transformed, the directionality of pixels provided in the input block is determined by using the coefficient of the frequency transformed input block, and the intra prediction is performed according to only the candidate of intra prediction mode having a direction similar to the determined directionality of the pixels.
