<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which achieves waterproofing effect and breakage prevention of a recording device body, and facilitates maintenance work thereof. <P>SOLUTION: According to the structure of the recording device, a waterproof cover 1, which is transparent and has flexibility and waterproofness, is connected to a protective cover 3, which is formed along the outside shape of the recording device body 2 except for an opening section and has a shock absorption and waterproofness, via a first connection portion 4 and a second connection portion. Then the recording device body 2 is fitted in the protective cover 3. Then a space under the waterproof cover 1 and the protective cover 3 is defined as a gap 6, and a recording medium 10 discharged from a discharge port 2c of the recording device body 2 is discharged from the gap 6 to the outside by the guide of a guide section 1b. When the maintenance work is carried out, connection at the second connection portion is canceled, and the protective cover 1 is opened, followed by opening an opening/closing section 2b of the recording device body 2, to thereby expose a recording device mounting section 2f.
