PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant polyester for molding having good transparency, excellent in flame retardance and suitable as a resin for various kinds of molded articles, various kinds of films, sheets, bottles, etc. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant polyester comprises an ethylene terephthalate unit as a main component and copolymerizes an organic phosphorus compound having a specific structure so as to become 500-15,000 ppm as a content of phosphorus atom in the polyester and comprises 30-250 ppm magnesium compound in which a coated layer composed of titanic acid is formed and has≥0.55 intrinsic viscosity and≤5% haze.
