Anticoccidiosis compositions comprise a quaternary 5 - ammonium - methyl - 4 - amino - 2 - R - pyrimidine salt, in which R represents a cycloaliphatic group optionally substituted by halogen, etherified hydroxy or mercapto groups and the ammonium nitrogen atom is part of a monocyclic or bicyclic hetercyclic radical optionally substituted by halogen, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, mercapto and amino groups containing one or more double bonds, one of which extends from the ammonium nitrogen atom, and a carrier. The compositions are in the form of orally applicable, solid or liquid feedstuffs which may contain, besides conventional materials, other therapeutically useful substances, e.g. sulphonamides (examples given), antibiotics, e.g. penicillin, streptomycin, aureomycin, terramycin and tetracyclin, antiparasitic agents, e.g. methyl 4 - acetamino - 2 - ethoxy - benzoate, 2 - amino - 5 - nitrothiazole and 1 - (5 - nitro - 2 - thiazolyl) - 2 - oxo - tetrahydroimidazole, and/or tranquilizers, e.g. reserpine, methyl 18 - epi - O - methyl - reserpate and meprobamate. |
