<p>An auto-changer comprising a cartridge accommodation portion (10) having a plurality of accommodation cells (11) for removably storing a magnetic tape cartridge (50) provided with an IC memory (51) which stores information data on a magnetic tape (52) in a cartridge storing the magnetic tape (52), for example, and connection terminals (12) disposed in a plurality of storage portions, respectively, for making access to the IC memory (51). This auto-changer further includes a recording/reproduction portion (20) for removably loading the magnetic tape cartridge (50) and making access of an information signal to the magnetic tape (52) of the magnetic tape cartridge (50) so loaded, a carrier (4) for carrying the magnetic tape cartridge (50) between the cartridge accommodation portion (10) and the recording/reproduction portion (20), a control memory (2) for storing the information data, and a system controller (1) for causing the connection terminal (12) to read out the information data stored in the IC memory (51) and to store it in the control memory (2) when the magnetic tape cartridge (50) is stored in the accommodation cell (11) of the cartridge accommodation portion (10), and for updating the information data stored in the IC memory (51) and the control memory (2) in accordance with the access state of the information signal to the magnetic tape (52) of the magnetic tape cartridge (50) by the recording/reproduction portion (20).</p> |
