PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the complicatedness and prevent the trouble by intuitively carrying out setting at the time of installation of identical recorders. SOLUTION: When a plurality of the identical recorders are connected via a network and used while stacked at an upper part, basic setting data of a printer is made transferrable to different recorders via the network so that the lower recorder can be operated by an operation panel of the uppermost recorder 1. Moreover, a means is provided which displays at the time of initial installation on the operation panels of all recorders to open and close manual insertion trays sequentially from the uppermost or sequentially from the lowest stage, and recognizes an opening and closing order of the trays, whereby the recorders recognize a stacking order.
