<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of effectively using an automatic cassette change function such that presence or absence of the automatic cassette change function can be set for each paper feed cassette and can be selected by a user. <P>SOLUTION: When the start key 125 of a control panel 120 is depressed in order to start copying, a main CPU 100 determines the presence or absence of the automatic cassette change function based on the value of an adjustment code stored in the nonvolatile section 104a of an RAM 104.
