PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an esterification product easy to handle with high solubility in water, and to provide a new coating liquid for antifogging or antistatic use using the esterification product. SOLUTION: (1) The esterification product is obtained by esterification between a polycarboxylic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component in the presence of a catalyst, wherein at last 50 wt.% of the polyhydric alcohol component is a polyoxyethylene 200-1,000 in molecular weight. The solubility of this esterification product in water at 25°C is greater than 5 g/100g water. (2) The new coating liquid for antifogging or antistatic use is such that the above esterification product is made into its aqueous solution. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
