A method for executing a signature certification operation in a terminal and the terminal using the same are provided to certify signature by extracting pattern information including geometric and writing pressure information from signal data with a motion sensor, and comparing the extracting pattern information with the registered pattern information. A motion sensor part(401) includes sensors, and detects motion and a position of the terminal. A signature storing part(402) stores the signature data of a user and the pattern information of the signature data. The pattern information includes the geometric and writing pressure information of the signature data. A signature recognition manager(403) receives the signature data from the user through a signature input part, extracts the geometric information from the signature data by using a signature recognizing module, and extracts the writing pressure information from the signature data by using the motion sensor part. A signature certificate manager(404) certifies the user by comparing the extracted pattern information with the pattern information stored in the signature storing part.
