Before, during and/or after compression (3), the bulk material is melted. Following compression and heating, it leaves as continuous rod- or sheet material. This is cooled and granulated from its cohesive state, by a cutting tool producing fine granules. The rod or sheet thickness is preferably 10-50 mm. The product has a grain size of up to 20 mm, but most preferably 0.0-2 mm. Before the heating stage, the bulk material is carried by a conveyor (7). It is heated by a heater (2) located above the belt. The heating time is 20 sec, preferably at least 30 sec. The heating temperature is 200-250 [deg]C, compression taking place before or during heating. Compression occurs between two belts or rollers, and results in the final sheet dimensions. In a variant, the feedstock is supplied in a continuous stream, heated, then compressed by a plunger. The material is first transferred into a collection chamber (12) before reaching the compression chamber (13). The chambers are located above a conveyor belt, which borders their undersides. A flow of melted bulk material takes place under gravity, from the first belt (7) into the collection chamber. Belt motion is interrupted at intervals, causing corresponding interruption of bulk material flow into the collection chamber. The plant is further detailed; it includes slatted conveyors, a comminuter, and further equipment for mechanical handling and processing of the materials. An independent claim is included for the corresponding plant.
|
