PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer comprising constituent units derived from a polyalkylene glycol chain and having a narrow molecular weight distribution and to provide a dispersing agent for inorganic powder using the polymer and having excellent dispersion performances. SOLUTION: The polymer comprises the constituent units derived from the polyalkylene glycol chain. The polymer is obtained by carrying out polymerization of unsaturated monomers containing an unsaturated monomer having the polyalkylene glycol chain by using an organotellurium compound and a radical polymerization initiator.
