<p>The vapour from the surface of the sea is condensed in a pliable tube which is maintained at a certain altitude at which the temp. is lower than that existing at the sea's surface. The tube is lifted by a balloon with a tail unit so that the latter always faces the wind. The lower end of the tube is connected to a blower and an injector; these draw air satd. with water vapour from the surface of the sea, where evapn. is intense, and pass it up the tube till it reaches an altitude at a lower temp.; it then condenses on the internal wall of the tube from which it falls by gravity into a recovery tank. An automatic valve at the lower end of the tube is closed during the first phase when the satd. air is being blown up the tube and opened when the blower is stopped to allow the condensed water to fall during the second phase. The plant can be moved economically along the coast as desired and nos. aline residues collect in the plant.</p> |
