PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of automatically removing dust accumulated on an outdoor heat exchanger, and recovering initial heat exchanging efficiency. SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprises an outdoor heat exchanger 16 installed outdoors, an indoor heat exchanger 11 installed indoors, an indoor fan 9 for supplying the air exchanging heat by the indoor heat exchanger 11, into a room, and an outdoor fan 19 for cooling the outdoor heat exchanger 16, and performing an air conditioning operation for cooling, heating or dehumidifying the room. This air conditioner further comprises inverse rotation means 6, 18 for rotating the outdoor fan 19 in the inverse direction to the rotating direction in cooling the outdoor heat exchanger 16, when the air conditioning operation is terminated, and a time measuring means 21 for measuring a time to rotate the outdoor fan 19 by the inverse rotation means 6, 18, and the inverse rotation means 6, 18 are stopped when the time measuring means 21 measures a prescribed time.
