PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an apparatus and a method capable of removing interference waves from an unidentified system. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a wideband signal generator 1 for generating a wideband signal; a transmission signal generator 2 for generating a transmission signal; a switch 3 for outputting a first control signal when it is switched to the wideband signal generator 1 side, and outputting a second control signal when it is switched to the transmission signal generator 2 side; a complex tap selection adaptive filter 5 for estimating a delay time based on a delay time evaluation function when the first control signal is input and storing the estimated delay time in a memory 6, calling the estimated delay time from the memory 6 when the second control signal is input and estimating a load in the estimated delay time, and obtaining an error signal from the estimated delay time and the estimated load; and an subtractor 9 for suppressing an interference wave by subtracting the output of the complex tap selection adaptive filter 5 from a reception signal in which the transmission signal has passed through the unidentified system.
