摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional group selective hydrogenation catalyst which can selectively hydrogenate carbon-carbon double bond, carbon-carbon triple bond, aromatic formyl group and aromatic nitro group existing in organic compounds and, even when halogen atom attached to aromatic ring, O-benzyl group, aromatic ketonic carbonyl group, N-benzyloxycarbonyl group and/or aromatic nitrile group exist in the compounds, does not substantially exhibit hydrogenation activity for the functional groups, and to provide a functional group selective hydrogenation method using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst is composed of: a carrier; and palladium and an organic sulfur compound which are co-deposited on the carrier. The functional group selective hydrogenation method comprises a process of causing the organic sulfur compound to be brought into contact with hydrogen gas in a wet state in the presence of the catalyst.
