<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of appropriately controlling a display luminance and a volume in view of an viewing environment when the device is provided in a public accommodation, such as a hotel or the like, without preparing a plurality of kinds of set programs and causing the user to select one of the programs. <P>SOLUTION: The video display device, such as a liquid crystal TV 1 or the like, comprises an environment information obtaining means and an environment-dependent control means. The environment information obtaining means obtains environment information about an environment where the liquid crystal TV 1 is provided. The environment-dependent control means controls a volume in an audio output means (environment-dependent control) and/or a display luminance in a video display means (environment-dependent control), depending on the environment indicated by the environment information obtained by the environment information obtaining means. The environment information obtaining means comprises an external light brightness sensor 22, an external noise sensor 23, a network communications circuit and the like, and a system control microcomputer 19 for controlling them to obtain brightness information or noise information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
