<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out appropriate torque control according to the running state of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In a current command computation unit 22, based on a torque command inputted from a torque command computation unit 21, the presence of a starting request related to the starting operation of a driver, the driving state of a hybrid vehicle 1, and the like; it selects an appropriate current phase map from among multiple current phase maps stored beforehand in a current phase map storage unit 23. Then, it computes a current command for specifying individual phase currents Iu, Iv, and Iw supplied from a power drive unit 14 to a motor 12 by map search for the selected current phase map based on a torque command.
