A digital broadcasting receiver and a method for processing a digital broadcasting signal are provided to change information about broadcasting contents into at least one object-oriented information and to transmit the object-oriented information and object-oriented broadcasting contents at the same time. A reception part receives a digital broadcasting signal. An object processing part stores a database which includes data related to objects in the received digital broadcasting signal. The object processing part includes an object-oriented information extracting part(300) for extracting object-oriented information from a video sequence and transmitting the extracted object-oriented information, an object-oriented information decoding part(310) for decoding the object-oriented information received from the object-oriented information extracting part, an object-oriented information converting part(320) for performing data conversion of the decoded object-oriented information transmitted from the object-oriented information extracting part, and an object-oriented information processing part for executing a corresponding object by using the converted object-oriented information.
